BTC eLearning

learn and collaborate with BTC instructors and staff

In advance of doing a full-on session with students, I held an eOffice-Hour in Elluminate Live! for my students today. I had previously assigned them a project comprised of a series of steps and related links to help them setup and test their systems audio, video and software configuration. The assignment also included assigned tasks via links to Elluminate Live! participant orientations online - courtesy of Elluminate.

Four folks showed up to test and play, and I was able to spend some time helping them through little kinks with their setups and to give them a tour of the system and it's interface. I was pleased with their interest and quick pickup. The students were enthusiastic. One was working at home and we commented how we could "do school in our jammies." Well, not exactly job-site preparation there, but as a component of a course, more power to him!

Next week, I'll be doing my first full Elluminate teaching sessions with 20+ students. I'll probably record the session for their use, although I fear I may regret having a record of my first go.

So great to hear the student perspective. It's important to all of us, as we never know how things will go over with them. I think the "school in jammies" may soon reflect more workforce scenarios. As fuel prices skyrocket, more and more people are working from home. Those who as able to use these long distance tools, will probably be first selected for those opportunities!

You could make a really memorable record of your first go if you taught "school in your jammies!" ;)
Good luck!
